Travis World Language Academy, Grand Prairie, Texas

It is with great pleasure that I introduce Travis World Language Academy (TWLA) through the student-driven storylines of this marvelous book. TWLA is an academy that builds leadership opportunities for students to excel in a culture rich in bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism.

Through project development in GlobalOria and Project Lead the Way, a STEM focus in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics is emphasized. Additionally, AVID (Advanced Via Individual Determination) postsecondary learning opportunities are woven into the state-mandated curriculum to better prepare students for postsecondary status. Travis World Language Academy is committed to developing 21st-century skills for students that will better prepare them to compete in a global market.

As chancellor of Travis World Language Academy, we strive to make the academy the best learning experience for students. As an educator for twenty-one years and serving the needs of students from Pre-K through higher education, I believe that the love of learning is cultivated through rich experiences such as LEGENDS & KIDS® Young Authors Programm This learning opportunity allowed the students to think critically as writers of fictional text, problem solve and share creative ideas with peers; and ultimately, become published authors. What an excellent experience for our students to have achieved such a GREAT, BIG AUDACIOUS GOAL, such as this.

Thank you to Dr. Joseph Profit and his team of leaders for helping our students be courageous enough to take a risk and accomplish something great in their lives. I look forward to learning from the many great authors this experience might produce for our future leaders.
