On behalf of our students and staff, welcome to Watson Lane Elementary in Louisville, Kentucky! I am Joshua Williams, principal, a native of Lexington, Kentucky. I have been in education for 10 years and employed with Jefferson County Public Schools for 4 years. I am a former high school social studies teacher with extensive administrative experience. Mr. Williams has been a principal intern, high school administrator, and elementary school Assistant Principal. Mr. Williams is working on EdD with an emphasis on Educational Leadership.
At Watson Lane Elementary, we aim to create a distinctive school where diversity, learning, and leadership are developed and celebrated by tapping into the collective strengths that each family, student, and staff member contributes.
Our focus is intentionally creating opportunities for our students to engage in learning actively. We aim for every student to leave Watson Lane prepared to be a lifelong learner. We offer our students numerous opportunities to participate in various clubs/organizations such as science club, clogging, knitting, art, music, aerobics, chess, scrapbooking, student council, chapter book, sign languages, golf, flag football, basketball, academic team, and cheerleading. We hope our students are inspired to make a difference in their lives and communities.
The Youth United For Prosperity Foundation (YUP) LEGENDS & KIDS Young Author Program gave our students an excellent way to display their creativity, professionalism, and writing skills. The idea of our students improving their writing skills and becoming published authors at the elementary and middle school levels has been a fantastic opportunity and experience.
